Portrait Photography
I hesitated to describe this artistic project as portrait photography. In one sense, the style is that of a portrait, the subject is in focus, and I explore the representation of corporeity and subjectivity. However, I am not solely guided by it. My main focus is capturing moments of interaction between the three (or more) protagonists of the story: the environment, the model(s) and the photographer. I seek to render material the multiplicity of these instances that spring up from a shared lived experience at a particular time and at a particular place. The portrait here is not thought as a representation of one or many subjects. Rather one portrait gives form to the interdependence of subjects and perspectives, human or otherwise.
